As part of A4 Arts Foundation’s residency program, Bubblegum Club created City Deep, a virtual residency that reimagines Johannesburg’s urban landscape through the lens of decolonial design. By drawing inspiration from the city’s signage, streets, and layered history, this project delves into the emotional and cultural dimensions of Johannesburg—its desires, memories, and dreams. City Deep invites viewers to reinterpret and repurpose urban symbols, offering fresh perspectives on daily life while engaging with the city’s multifaceted cultural and historical narratives. Through this innovative residency, Bubblegum Club deepens its exploration of artistic collaboration and the transformative power of place
